DLA Piper appoints two Corporate and a Finance partner in London to bolster its Energy and Infrastructure offerings

By Legal Desire 3 Min Read

DLA Piper has appointed three new partners who will bolster both its Energy and Infrastructure sectors:

  • Steven Bryan, who was most recently a partner at Paul Hastings, has joined the firm’s London Corporate practice.
  • Derwin Jenkinson, who was also most recently a partner at Paul Hastings, has joined the Finance, Projects and Restructuring (FPR) practice.
  • Paul Doris, who will join from Brown Rudnick on 4 March, is also joining the London Corporate practice.

Steven, who joined this week, is a market leading energy and infrastructure M&A partner with a focus on advising investment funds and corporate sponsors on private and public M&A, both in the UK and cross border. His experience working in energy and infrastructure, includes power and utilities (including clean energy), digital infrastructure, midstream energy (pipelines, storage, transmission, and distribution), transportation and social infrastructure. Prior to working at Paul Hastings, Steven led the infrastructure team at Hogan Lovells.

Derwin Jenkinson, who joined the firm on 22 February 2024, is a market leading energy and infrastructure finance partner. He has advised on high-profile matters across the same energy and infrastructure sectors and at all levels of the capital structure, covering acquisition and term debt (both bank and institutional credit), project finance, capital markets and structured finance as well as restructurings/special situations.

Steven and Derwin worked closely together at Paul Hastings to target work from infrastructure funds and other clients. Their complementary expertise, combined with DLA Piper’s existing capabilities, provides a compelling proposition for clients in the key energy and infrastructure sectors.

Paul Doris, who starts on 4 March, has been a partner for nine years and has extensive experience advising on UK and International M&A, private equity, and private capital transactions. He has developed particular experience of renewable energy transactions, which is aligned with DLA Piper’s own focus on ESG initiatives and strategy, so he will be ideally placed to advise on transformational projects and transactions in the sector.

Benjamin Parameswaran, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Corporate Group said: “These new appointments will add important bench strength to the Corporate and Finance Projects Restructuring Practice Groups as well as our Infrastructure and Energy sector offerings. Steven and Paul are both market-leading partners with huge experience in these sectors.”

Colin Wilson, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Finance Projects Restructuring Group (FPR) added: “Derwin has a fantastic track record built around market leading Infra Financing transactions which chimes perfectly with DLA Piper’s own focus in this area. The three joining us further builds on our existing strong offering in these key sectors and we are excited about them contributing to the firm’s continuing success.”
